Ideally located in the heart of Dongguan Changan business district, the Pullman Dongguan Changan Hotel is a five-star urban business hotel with four hundred rooms. It is only fifteen minutes by car to Shenzhen International Airport. The hotel features state-of-the-art meeting facilities, including a 1600 square meter pillar-less ballroom, two multi-function halls, and meeting rooms. It also offers a variety of F&B outlets and outdoor lifestyle facilities, such as KTV, Spa, and a fitness center.
The design of the hotel draws inspiration from traditional Chinese screens and scenes. A modern geometrical approach was applied to the lobby, transforming it into an upscale and spacious environment. Screens divide different functions of spaces but also link up the whole lobby area, creating different views from different angles and ensuring privacy. The use of environmental-friendly materials and LED lighting is prominent throughout the project. Warm tones of different shades and materials, along with accent wood veneer finishes, were used to enhance a warm and cozy welcome atmosphere.
The Pullman Dongguan Changan Hotel is made using black stainless steel, marble stone, wood veneer, fabric upholstery panels, and LED lighting. The design team, led by Arthur Wing Fat Chan, also included Byron To, Gavin Hsu, and Ben Leong. The hotel is located in Dongguan, China, and was completed in 2012.
The design of the hotel was based on the concept of Chinese screens and dividers, which can divide different functions of spaces while providing indirect visual connections. The combination of contemporary geometric patterns on the screen dividers and warm color tones, along with dark accent colors, creates a high-end and neat space. The design also faced challenges in combining an upscale urban business hotel with five-star hotel facilities and multiple leisure experiences, as well as creating different entries and passages to link up different individual facilities.
The Pullman Dongguan Changan Hotel was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2014 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This award recognizes top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. The hotel's design showcases a remarkable level of excellence, introducing positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
